why i love early mornings

hello everyone and happy saturday!

why i love early mornings

you wake up to a still house, and creep downstairs turning on lights. going slowly and softly so you do not wake anyone up. you look out the window and even though it is still dark out, you can see the promises of a new day sneak across the sky. a smile comes to your lip as you smell the coffee beans and a sense of calm floods over you as you listen to the dripping of the incredible warm drink.

you take a deep breathe and you have no desire to see what other people are doing or show them how you spend your day, so you avoid your phone. you curl up with a blanket and your hands are cradling a steamy mug. as you look outside you can feel the peaceful breeze and the comforting sound of birds chirping take over your mind’s thoughts. you sit there just embracing the quiet. you watch the sun chase away the darkness as you carefully sip your coffee. you grab your favorite book and you travel to another time and place. you have leave this world for a little bit. once you return you remember you have responsibilities, although today is quite light. you reach for your trusty planner and start planning your day.

as you hear the rustling of sleepy people waking up, you dash upstairs. you turn on your favorite music ( probably something from broadway for me). you jam out as you start getting ready for your day. you take your time, there is no rush. you can do your hair and makeup for as long as you want to. as you pick out your favorite outfit you can smell breakfast being made.

as you walk downstairs your mom asks why you wake up so early. you respond with a quick shrug, but you smile to yourself. you wake up that early because there is no rush, no expectations, and no pressure. you can spend quiet and peaceful moments with yourself with no interruptions. you wake up that morning because nothing can stop the happiness you feel as you sip your coffee to the songs of birds. you love waking up early because it is your time with yourself, which is completely and utterly priceless.

the best books ive read in 2018

hello everyone!!

one of my resolutions this year was to read one hundred books and ive been failing. BUT i have read a couple of really amazing books and i am hoping to add to this list as the year goes on!!

Alex and Eliza by Melissa De La Cruz

ok, i am not sure if i am going to be able to tell you how much i LOVE this book!! i got it for christmas and read it the first week of january. i honestly read the whole book in a day. which is super rare for me because it takes me a while to get into it. it s like 300 pages and the day after i first read it, i read it for a second time. that is how good it is. it is a fictional take on Alexander Hamilton and Eliza Schyuler ‘s love story. also, the sequel one is coming out on April 19, and you can bet im going to be the first to get my hands on it.

As battle cries of the American Revolution echo in the distance, servants flutter about preparing for one of New York society’s biggest events: the Schuylers’ grand ball. Descended from two of the oldest and most distinguished bloodlines in New York, the Schuylers are proud to be one of their fledgling country’s founding families, and even prouder still of their three daughters—Angelica, with her razor-sharp wit; Peggy, with her dazzling looks; and Eliza, whose beauty and charm rival that of both her sisters, though she’d rather be aiding the colonists’ cause than dressing up for some silly ball.

Still, she can barely contain her excitement when she hears of the arrival of one Alexander Hamilton, a mysterious, rakish young colonel and General George Washington’s right-hand man. Though Alex has arrived as the bearer of bad news for the Schuylers, he can’t believe his luck—as an orphan, and a bastard one at that—to be in such esteemed company. And when Alex and Eliza meet that fateful night, so begins an epic love story that would forever change the course of American history.

In the pages of Alex and Eliza, #1 New York Times bestselling author Melissa de la Cruz brings to life the romance of young Alexander Hamilton and Elizabeth Schuyler.

I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai

i actually had to read this for school, and im doing a presentation on it. it is an amazing story. it honestly really opened my eyes to what a lot of people have to go through. it is the story of Malala Yousafzai. she stood up aganst the Taliban and fought for girls rights to go to school. its a really awesome girl power story and its a great story to read in March since it is the National Women’s History Month ( in America at least)

I Am Malala. This is my story.
Malala Yousafzai was only ten years old when the Taliban took control of her region. They said music was a crime. They said women weren’t allowed to go to the market. They said girls couldn’t go to school.
Raised in a once-peaceful area of Pakistan transformed by terrorism, Malala was taught to stand up for what she believes. So she fought for her right to be educated. And on October 9, 2012, she nearly lost her life for the cause: She was shot point-blank while riding the bus on her way home from school.
No one expected her to survive.
Now Malala is an international symbol of peaceful protest and the youngest ever Nobel Peace Prize winner. In this Young Readers Edition of her bestselling memoir, which has been reimagined specifically for a younger audience and includes exclusive photos and material, we hear firsthand the remarkable story of a girl who knew from a young age that she wanted to change the world — and did.
Malala’s powerful story will open your eyes to another world and will make you believe in hope, truth, miracles and the possibility that one person — one young person — can inspire change in her community and beyond.

A Wrinkle In Time by Madeleine L’Engle

at the time that i am writing this, the movie comes out tomorrow!! im so excited and that is actually the reason i read this book. its such a cool weird bizarre book. its a science fiction book and it is incredible! it really sucks you in and keeps you guessing. i can honestly not wait for the movie to come out!! (EDIT i actually saw the movie over the weekend and you all have to see it after you read the book!! its incredible)

It was a dark and stormy night; Meg Murry, her small brother Charles Wallace, and her mother had come down to the kitchen for a midnight snack when they were upset by the arrival of a most disturbing stranger.

“Wild nights are my glory,” the unearthly stranger told them. “I just got caught in a downdraft and blown off course. Let me sit down for a moment, and then I’ll be on my way. Speaking of ways, by the way, there is such a thing as a tesseract.”

A tesseract (in case the reader doesn’t know) is a wrinkle in time. To tell more would rob the reader of the enjoyment of Miss L’Engle’s unusual book. A Wrinkle in Time, winner of the Newbery Medal in 1963, is the story of the adventures in space and time of Meg, Charles Wallace, and Calvin O’Keefe (athlete, student, and one of the most popular boys in high school). They are in search of Meg’s father, a scientist who disappeared while engaged in secret work for the government on the tesseract problem.

i hope you all enjoyed!! please let me know your favorite book that you have read this year! let me know any blog posts that you would  like to see in the future!

our coffee date

hello everyone!!

i realized i havent done a coffee date since September  and a lot has happened since then!

our coffee date would go something like this,

we would meet  at a local coffee shop, i welcome you and say how happy i am that you are here and we would place our orders. i would get a caramel macchiato with almond milk, because i recently went dairy-free.

i would first start off by asking how you are. i would pray that you are doing wonderful and i would offer you words of encouragement if you werent.

i would tell you how i recently got my sister’s old laptop to work, and that that was what inspired me to start blogging again. because writing is sooo much easier on a laptop than your phone. i would tell you how i have so many blog ideas and a couple already written! i would talk about how happy i am that im back, how much a missed it.

i would tell you that at the end of this month i am going to NYC with my family, and tell you how i can literally not wait, and that ive only been there once but it was so much fun that it is definitely one of the best places ive ever been. i would tell you that i am planning on writing all about it and that i am going to be taking so many pictures it might take up two blog posts lol.

*takes a sip*

i would take a breathe because that was a lot and i would ask you what you were excite about for this month, because i believe you should always have something to look forward to no matter how big or small.

i would tell you that at our last coffee date i told you how scared i was for classes to start and that it was very difficult at the beginning but i am so happy and content with them now.

i would tell you how in *2 hours* i am getting my hair cut. for which i am so very nervous because, my hair is a part of me and i have had many breakdowns over cutting my hair. but i am very excited to get it done! also, having the hairstylist wash my hair is one of my favorite things ever.

*takes a sip*

i would ask how you are feeling, how is your mental health? no matter how young or old you are your mental health is important and every once in a while you should take a breathe and truly ask yourself how you are.

my mental health has gotten so much better since the start of the school year and i am so much happier.

i would tell yo that i have been so proud of myself because i have been eating so healthy and really pushing my body to be stronger. i have gained so much muscle and confidence from even 2 weeks ago.

i would say that my birthday is in less than a month and that i am very very excited. im not doing anything crazy or super special but birthdays are always so much fun :).

*takes a sip*

i would tell you how happy i am that you are here. i would say ” we should do this more often, maybe every saturday?” i would smile and take a breathe and look around at all the hustle and bustle. i would  take a breathe and have a moment of calm in this ever-changing world.

i would say good bye and i would tell you that i cannot wait until we do this again.

my school morning routine.

hello everyone!

i am so so so sorry for not posting, it has been really hard for me to stick to a schedule and i have not been super motivated. i am going to try super hard to be more consistent and post things i love and am super proud of. please be patient with me! i am going to fail a lot but i am going to try my best.

ok, now with that out of the way, i am actually really excited for this post! morning routines are my FAVORITE! and morning routines for school? i love even more. there is just something about morning routines that just fascinate me. also, i do not think i have ever actually done a routine, which is crazy to me. i generally try to post somewhat original content and i never think to do morning routines. anyway, here we go!

  • wake up

i generally wake up for school around 6:00 or 6:15, i have to leave my house around 7:20 so i find having a hour and a half is perfect for me. it honestly takes me awhile to get out of bed, especially in the winter. spring and summer are a little bit easier but when its snowing and the sun hasnt risen? um no thank you. i also always chug water as soon as i wake up to help me feel a little less dead, and i always wake up with the driest mouth ever which i dont really understand but anyway.

  • breakfast

yay breakfast!! i usually have cereal every morning because it is easy and it doesnt take very long to eat. i looooove peanut butter cereal plus it keeps me full till lunch but we are currently out which im really sad about. but i just eat that with almond milk because i cant have dairy or gluten. also im usually scrolling through instagram while im  eating. i honestly  cannot just eat, like i have to be doing something.

  • wash face + brush teeth + contacts

and then i just head up to the bathroom, and i wash my face with either the Tom’s bar soap or the Alba Bontanicas acnedote face wash, depending on how my skin is doing. then i use the Thayer’s rose petal witch hazel, i go through phases of using this because sometimes i think it really helps and other times and i think it just makes it worse, but recently ive been loving it. then i just use the Acure rosehip oil. i looove using oils for moisturizing because i find moisturizers just break me out. i really recommend researching all the different oils and see if you can find one that works for you, even if you have oily skin! then i just brush my teeth and put in my contacts if i wear them, i sometimes wear my glasses though.

  • outift

then i just throw on whatever outfit i picked out the day before. if i didnt lay out my oufit the night before i would honestly always be late for school. usually ill wear mom jeans with a t-shirt or ill wear a dress and skirt, depending on how im feeling. would you enjoy a “my go-to outfits” post? i feel like that could be fun! i also put on deoderant and a vanilla body mist from Bath and Body Works.

  • hair + makeup

im usually pretty laid back with my makeup. pretty much just powder, a light contour, highlight, brows, mascara, and lip balm. it takes me like 5-10 minutes. for my hair im really lazy, i have pretty long hair and its so annoying to have to style. im cutting it soon though so maybe a hairstyles for short hair will be coming soon?

  • get ready to leave

this is when i put on my shoes, grab my backpack and head downstairs. i take the lunch that my mom or i prepared the day before, and put it in my bag along with my waterbottle that i make sure is filled.  and i always have coffee that i drink in the car, i sometimes make iced coffee the night before if i dont i just have some hot coffee. once im ready i usually have an extra 15 minutes where i just go on my phone or talk with my dad and sister. then my dad and i get in the car and head to school! the car ride to school is honestly so much fun.

and thats my morning routine for school! i hope you all enjoyed! i only do this twice a week because i only have classes twice a week and then im homeschooled the rest of the week where i basically just do homework. im going to try my best to post every wednesday from now on! i love you guys and thank you for the continuous support!

ps. if you are interetsed in seeing what my day looks like when i dont have class you can click here: Day In The Life: my homeschool routine

•full face of makeup i want•

Hello everyone!!

As I was thinking of new posts for 2018, this was one of my favorites! I’m going to be showing you a full face of products that I really want to try. Please tell me if you have tried any of these and if they are worth it or not.

Becca Cosmetics First Light Priming Filter

I love the Becca brand. As soon as I saw one of my favorite youtubers talk about this, I wanted it so bad. From what I know, it’s suppose to refresh and energize your skin and create a really dewy base. It’s just so gorgeous!!

Lush Color Supplement Jackie Oates

First of all, I love the lush brand. I love that it’s all natural and cruelty free. I’m not into super heavy coverage foundation. I usually looks for something that’s going to give really light coverage and just cover up any redness I have.

Nars Creamy concealer

Nars is such a good brand and I’m super picky over my concealers. Again I like lighter coverage. I mostly look for something to cover my dark under-eyes.

Coty Airspun Powder

If you watch any beauty video on YouTube, you’ll probably come across someone talking about this powder. The only thing I’m not sure about is if it’s cruelty free or not. If it’s not I’m not interested, if anyone knows please let me know!

Too Faced Chocolate Soliele Bronzer

My sister has this bronzer and honestly it’s so pretty! It gives the perfect shadow effect to your cheekbones. Also it smells like hot chocolate which is always a plus.

Physicians Formula Glow Booster

Again, one of my favorite youtubers talked about this and I honestly want it so badly!! I’m a highlighter fiend. The more blinding the better. Also, I love that you can combine the colors or use them as is.

Essence Make Me Brow

I have naturally really dark and thick eyebrows. I still really enjoy filling them in, I love the elf eyebrow pencil, but sometimes that just takes way too long. Plus, this is really inexpensive, so that’s always good.

ABH Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette

I mean just look at it!! The colors are so beautiful, especially since I’m all about warm tones. Ever youtuber talks about how amazing this is and I have wanted it since it came out!!

Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara

I’ve tried the better than sex mascara and honestly I wasn’t impressed by the formula, but I love the wand. This has a really similar wand and I’ve heard it’s a really good formula as well. I tried buying this from Sephora a couple months ago, but apparently they don’t sell Stila products anymore. Ughhhhh.

NYX Slip Tease Lip Oil

This color is Bang Bang. In the winter my lips are always chapped so I tend to use tinted oils and lip balms. This is just a really beautiful color. NYX always has amazing lip products so I’m sure this is no different.

•Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray

I always have trouble with makeup staying on my face. I’ve heard this really does keep on for forever. I’ve never used a setting spray before so I really want to get this!!

Have you tried any of these products? What products are on your wishlist? I hope you guys enjoyed!! See you next Monday!

*disclaimer*I do not own any photos except for my signature. Photo cress to Google.

•my new years resolutions•

EDIT: I was originally going to post this on Jan 1st, but something went wrong with my WiFi and never posted. So it’s a little late but hope you enjoy!!

Hello y’all !

Happy New Year! I genuinely can’t believe it’s already 2018. I’ve recently been thinking a lot about the coming year. I realized how I’m always so disappointed at the end of year, no matter how fun it was, I feel as if I haven’t changed. I, obviously, want to change. I want to learn and grow. This year my biggest goal is to improve my life in every possible way. To be genuinely happy. I’m hoping these resolutions will get me there!

Drink more water

I’m honestly the worst at remembering to drink water throughout the day. I did get an adorable water bottle for Christmas so I’m hoping that will help

Go completely gluten free and eat healthier

This year I’ve learned that I have a gluten sensitivity. It just makes me feel gross. I’ve been off and on eating gluten free and eating healthy foods so I really want to go all in this year.

Take care of myself more

I’m really bad at keeping my things clean, doing laundry and the small things like taking care of my nails etc. This year I just would like to improve on that.

Go outside

I realized I just do not go outside enough which is not good! Even just a walk for 10 minutes is enough, I sometimes forget how wonderful fresh air is.

Read 100 books

I love books! I have trouble finishing them though. If you have any book recommendations please leave them below!!

Spend time with Jesus everyday

I’ve been having trouble keeping a strong relationship, or any relationship at all with Jesus the last couple months. I just haven’t wanted to. I also really want to ask more questions and learn more about my beliefs. Also, I really want to do more research and see what the Bible says about some of my opinions:)

I think volunteering is so so important. I’m hoping I can find an animal shelter to help out at, if not I’ll probably volunteer at my church!

And those are most of my resolutions. I actually have a bunch and it would take so so long to write them all out. I’m hoping to actually stick to these though! I’ll keep you updated! I’m hoping to have one or two goals each months so I can finish all my resolutions. I might do like an update at the end of every month and tell you about my goals that month and how I did or didn’t complete them!!

•if you were at my house on christmas morning•

Merry Christmas!

And happy holidays if you don’t celebrate Christmas! Wow, it’s finally here. Now to be honest, it’s actually not Christmas when I’m writing this. It’s the 21, I think? Anyway, since this is my favorite day of the year I was trying to think of the best blog post. Because, it’s Christmas! So, I was originally going to do a day in the life on Christmas Eve, but I had this idea last night as I was trying to fall asleep(which is when I have my best ideas)

It’s always crazy to me how different people celebrate each holiday. So, I thought, why don’t I tell you about a typical Christmas morning in my household!

I wake up with a start, it takes a second and then all of the excitement that has been building up for 365 days comes rushing towards me all at once. Looking over at the clock on my bookshelf I realize it’s 6 am. One hour and thirty minutes until the knock on my door giving me the freedom to run downstairs. I slip out of bed carefully, not wanting to wake up my ten year old cousin asleep next to me. I plug in my Christmas lights and snuggle back in my bed. I do whatever I can to make the time go by as quickly as possible.

I hear the knock, I run to the door and race downstairs. I stop in the kitchen. I hear a chorus of “Merry Christmas” coming from all around me. I return the gesture and request to go into our living room. I’m politely denied and told that I must wait till everyone is here. I wait impatiently. After what seems like ages, everyone is herded into the kitchen. I, again, ask to go into the living room. As soon as I hear the word, I race into the living room.

Once I step foot into the magical room, I see the presents under the tree, the stockings filled to the brim, and the treasures left on the couches by the big man himself. I stand there in awe. Taking it all in. I give my parents a big hug. Everyone files into the room, my Grandma hands out the stockings, we laugh as we tear through them. Showing everyone the weird, funny, or amazing things in our stockings.

I hop up from my spot in the floor and get a mug from the cabinet. I pour myself some coffee. Grabbing the milk, eggnog and a spoon. I put in a spoonful of sugar, a dash of eggnog, and a bit of milk. I go back into the living room. I put down my mug and start passing out presents. We start with my cousin, then me, then my sister, then my brother, then my other brother, then my sister-in-law, then my uncle, then my aunt, then my mom, then my dad, then my grandpa, then my grandma. Then we start again. We do that for most of the morning

After a couple hours, when the presents have all been opened, I take a deep breath and hop up to help with breakfast. I set the table, pop the cinnamon rolls in the oven. Once breakfast has been devoured by my family and me, my cousin and I play with what we had been given.

And that’s my Christmas morning! I hope you all enjoyed. Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it and I hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday season!
