And happy holidays if you don’t celebrate Christmas! Wow, it’s finally here. Now to be honest, it’s actually not Christmas when I’m writing this. It’s the 21, I think? Anyway, since this is my favorite day of the year I was trying to think of the best blog post. Because, it’s Christmas! So, I was originally going to do a day in the life on Christmas Eve, but I had this idea last night as I was trying to fall asleep(which is when I have my best ideas)
It’s always crazy to me how different people celebrate each holiday. So, I thought, why don’t I tell you about a typical Christmas morning in my household!
I wake up with a start, it takes a second and then all of the excitement that has been building up for 365 days comes rushing towards me all at once. Looking over at the clock on my bookshelf I realize it’s 6 am. One hour and thirty minutes until the knock on my door giving me the freedom to run downstairs. I slip out of bed carefully, not wanting to wake up my ten year old cousin asleep next to me. I plug in my Christmas lights and snuggle back in my bed. I do whatever I can to make the time go by as quickly as possible.
I hear the knock, I run to the door and race downstairs. I stop in the kitchen. I hear a chorus of “Merry Christmas” coming from all around me. I return the gesture and request to go into our living room. I’m politely denied and told that I must wait till everyone is here. I wait impatiently. After what seems like ages, everyone is herded into the kitchen. I, again, ask to go into the living room. As soon as I hear the word, I race into the living room.
Once I step foot into the magical room, I see the presents under the tree, the stockings filled to the brim, and the treasures left on the couches by the big man himself. I stand there in awe. Taking it all in. I give my parents a big hug. Everyone files into the room, my Grandma hands out the stockings, we laugh as we tear through them. Showing everyone the weird, funny, or amazing things in our stockings.
I hop up from my spot in the floor and get a mug from the cabinet. I pour myself some coffee. Grabbing the milk, eggnog and a spoon. I put in a spoonful of sugar, a dash of eggnog, and a bit of milk. I go back into the living room. I put down my mug and start passing out presents. We start with my cousin, then me, then my sister, then my brother, then my other brother, then my sister-in-law, then my uncle, then my aunt, then my mom, then my dad, then my grandpa, then my grandma. Then we start again. We do that for most of the morning
After a couple hours, when the presents have all been opened, I take a deep breath and hop up to help with breakfast. I set the table, pop the cinnamon rolls in the oven. Once breakfast has been devoured by my family and me, my cousin and I play with what we had been given.
And that’s my Christmas morning! I hope you all enjoyed. Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it and I hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday season!
